I agree with you Mr Faust, we have had our ‘uses’ in the past, and now we are left to flounder.
We, the pensioners, expect nothing except a decent and respectable pension. We would not need ‘extra payments’ were we to receive from this government, an acceptable sum of money to live on and pay our bills. Reducing the VAT to 15% is a joke, it doesn’t really help us at all.
I think that VAT should be abolished, we are the only ones who are losing out on this stealth tax, for the companies who charge VAT can claim it back from the Government, so what is the point? The point is that we are being charged an extra tax on the goods we buy, once again the most vulnerable in our society is having to pay tax on our meagre pensions.
I firmly believe that the Utility companies should be re-nationalised, this would then mean fairness for all, instead of putting our money into the pockets of the fat cats and the shareholders. There are approx 12 million pensioners in the UK, and millions of these are living below the poverty line. What a way to treat the very people who fought and lost their lives to give this country the freedom they enjoy!
